WILD METROPOLIS by Suzy Chan

This is a collaboration with the artist Xu Zhen's art company- Madein Company. This is a group exhibition. The discussion background of the exhibition is the current cultural chaos in China (host live show, web celebrity, tik tok etc.) and the curation team told me that they want to make this exhibition like a Pop-up Exhibition that attracts many internet celebrities, but the behavior of "want to make a pop-up Exhibition" is just one way to discuss those cultural chaos problem in China.

The keywords are virtual, consumerism, capital, hub, dense, young, Internet celebrity, mixed, and network flow.

So my visual solution is to use this virtual and wild visual language to describe the state of some cultural chaos in China today. If the keywords in these cultural chaos are interaction, experience, selfie, then my visual language corresponds to vivid, beautiful, strange, and even wild.

Concept: Animals in the wild jungle are not domesticated, and even grow wildly into the skin of another animal, but the system continues to operate. I use this method to metaphor / describe the wild state of culture.

野生大都會 by Suzy Chan

這是一次與藝術家徐震的藝術公司-沒頂公司的合作項目. 這是一個藝術家群展, 展覽的討論背景是中國當下的文化亂象(直播、網紅、抖音) 與策展團隊溝通得知他們想把這個展覽做成網紅展的樣子, 但“想做成網紅展”這個行為本身也只是探討問題的方式之一。

關鍵詞分別有虛擬、消費主義、資本、樞紐、稠密、年輕、網紅、混雜、流量下沉。

所以我的視覺解決方案是“用流量視覺去解決流量現場問題”。如果“流量展”對應的是流量下沉、互動、體驗、自拍, 那“流量視覺”對應的就是鮮豔、美觀、奇特、甚至獵奇。

所以方案主要從“野生”這個側重點提出:

概念: 野生叢林-動物未被馴化,甚至野蠻生長成另一個動物的皮膚,但這個系統依然持續運行。比喻/描述文化的野生狀態

元素上: (動物、草、樹林、花、鳥、大象)裡面全打亂皮膚

表現上: 3d、立體、空間感
