Yingmay Supermarket Record Cover and Poster Design

I designed the record cover and poster for the local band Yingmay Supermarket in Macau. In the concept of traditional Chinese medicine, there is the concept of ‘internal heat’. It means that when you eat too much fried food, you can get acne, red eyes, and bad temper etc. The song 食薯條熱氣睇西醫無用 tells the story of a person who loves to eat fries is suffering from the ‘internal heat’. He received anti-inflammatory medication from a Western medical clinic, but the effects were short-lived. He then realized that if he wanted to treat the heat from the root, he needed the help of traditional Chinese medicine.
This song is very simple and humorous, so in the design, So I also used a very direct approach in design, deconstructing the content of the song. Tell the whole story directly and visually. I also incorporated many elements of a traditional herbal tea shop into the visual. For example, they always have a gourd-shaped herbal tea container.
I was delighted to be invited by the Macau Poster Association and the Macau Performers Association to design the record cover and poster for the local band Yingmay Supermarket on the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China. and participated in the Feel Macau 2024 poster exhibition. The work was eventually exhibited at the casino Lisboeta Macau.

澳門本土樂隊Yingmay Supermarket「食薯條熱氣睇西醫無用」一曲以搞笑、喜劇的方式講述一位愛吃薯條之人，飽受熱氣的煎熬。從西醫診所取得消炎藥治療，但藥效短暫，治標不治本。驚覺若要從根源治療熱氣，需要靠中醫的幫助。
這首歌簡單幽默，所以設計上我也使用非常直接的方式，將歌曲內容結構，從視覺上把這個故事講出來。我還融合了許多傳統的涼茶舖的元素進入畫面中，例如他們總是會有一個葫蘆形狀的涼茶罐。
很開心受澳門海報協會與澳門演藝人協會的邀請，在澳門回歸25週年的節點上，為為澳門本土樂隊“英美超市”設計的唱片封面及海報設計。並參與Feeel Macau 2024海報展。作品最終也在澳門的賭場葡京人展出。
