Chinese Typeface Experiments 

A series of Chinese typeface experiments developed across recent projects. Having received little formal training in Chinese type design, I approached the characters first as abstract shapes—drawing, modifying existing typefaces, and typesetting Chinese alongside Latin letterforms. The project explores the space between decorative and functional type, while allowing me to rediscover the visual possibilities of my mother tongue and reconnect with my cultural roots through typography.

中文字體實驗

這是我最近一些專案做的一些中文文字（包括一些已經存在的英文字體的搭配）。因為我很早離開了中國的設計學校，所以我幾乎沒怎麼學過中文字體設計。身為一個中國設計師我常常以此為羞恥，因為我認為中文是最複雜的文字之一，我以此為母語卻不是很懂如何做中文。而且因為中文字體數量龐大（常用字有10000多個），加上嚴謹的方塊字規則，師徒制度的中文製作傳統等，所以中文字體設計對我來說總是看起來非常恐怖。

但在最近的一些專案中，我試著拋開一切，單純把字體當作一個抽象形狀去設計，或是在一些現有的字體上改造。我試圖在裝飾字體跟內文字體之間找到一種平衡。探索關於我的母語字體的可能性。
